MY BACKGROUND
My Journey
I am embarking on my second career as a cultural historian. Having qualified in languages many years ago I then became an accountant and tax adviser. For over thirty years I worked in the profession, as well as stints in commerce and working with global tax authorities.Â
In retirement I developed a passion for political cartoons. I switched to the study of history, and completed a Masters in Cartoon and Caricature at the University of Kent in 2014. I have just finished a part-time PhD at the University of Reading where I researched visual images of finance during the Victorian era.

My current research is into cartoons of the 1909 People's Budget, expanding my coverage of the Victorian era to the earlier part of the nineteenth century, and researching images of global financial crises.
